A local family has built one of Lake County’s first L.E.E.D. certified homes in Harbor Hills.  Chris and Shannon Carlyle are excited about their beautiful and environmentally-friendly Harbor Hills home recently featured in Style Magazine. Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) consists of a suite of rating systems for the design, construction and operation of high performance green buildings, homes and neighborhoods. Developed by the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC), and spearheaded by Robert K. Watson, Founding Chairman LEED Steering Committee from 1995 until 2006, LEED is intended to provide building owners and operators a concise framework for identifying and implementing practical and measurable green building design, construction, operations and maintenance solutions.

Earth Day is celebrated on April, 22 2013 and we wanted to share a local story that really highlights the green initiatives.  Preserving our resources will continue to be a top-priority and this Lady Lake home is a true success in promoting efficiency and energy saving measures.  Think about what creative projects you could do for Earth Day.  Visit to see some Earth Day crafts to do with kids.
