When you are driving and you see an emergency vehicle on the side of the road, some see the vehicle but keep driving on like nothing is different. However, this is not the way to treat a pulled over emergency vehicle. It could cause trouble for both the public safety professional and yourself. If a police officer has pulled over another vehicle, other drivers are required to slow down to at least 20 mph below the speed limit. If you are on a road with multiple lanes, it is best for you to slow down and get out of the lane closest to the emergency vehicle as soon as you can. By failing to use caution when passing a public safety professional, you risk receiving a fine or points on your license. It is important to be aware of what is going on around you when you drive and drive safely to protect yourself, your loved ones, and others around you.
